About San Andrés de Pisimbalá
Elementary School
The elementary school in San Andrés is divided into two buildings. One building hosts K, 1, 2, 4 grades. The other building hosts 3rd, 5th grades, the cafeteria, the library, and a small media room. The teachers come from this and surrounding communities, and are so dedicated to the education and well-being of their students. They persist through lack of resources, both educational and noneducational, to do the best for their students.
Secondary School
The secondary school hosts grades 6-12 and contains simple classrooms, cafeteria, and wonderful farm/garden space created in collaboration with the students. This is one of only two secondary schools for the area, so students come from other neighboring towns to attend. The school even opened a small living area for a small number of students who sleep there during the week because their commute home is excessively far.
